Pride In The Arts Festival 2006

The Pride In The Arts Festival is a direct offspring of the Annual Pride In The Arts Awards presented by StoneWall Society. The goal of the PITA Awards and Festival is to provide support and to help create an awareness of our community artists. We are proud to present a festival geared to the entire community and simultaneously provide  a showcase performance opportunity for our artists. Actually it has been the goal for over four years that the Festival take place.

The Awards themselves have shown such a growth over a relatively short period that we felt the Festival was long overdue. The Awards, in the first year attracted over three hundred voting participants. Last year, our fourth year, we had over 3,000 voting participants. Along with that growth were consistent requests and suggestions for a showcase for this wonderful world of GLBTI talent. And the concept for the Festival was born.

Our next challenge was location. We are very happy that we have forged a relationship to produce this year's Festival at Longfork Campground & Resort. In the spirit of the festival, Longfork is not charging any additional fees to attendees or to the Festival  for hosting the event. The beautiful setting at Longfork will make for a fantastic backdrop for artists at the Festival, and provide an awe inspiring destination for our guests. The eagerness on the part of Longfork management and staff to support GLBTI Arts is inspiring.

Participating artists this year are donating their talent and time. We will have tip receptacles on stages during all performances. We hope that attendees will show support for the artists by taking some of this wonderful art home and or by tipping.

This year's event will be filmed. So you, the guest, may be asked to participate, make a comment, and be in our film. Approval releases will be made available to guests. StoneWall Society will make content of the film available to GLBTI event organizers, GLBTI community centers and of course the artists. Not only will this film showcase the festival but as well the artists. All artists exhibiting and or performing will be in the film. This way these artists will also have a film presentation of their art. The film will be made available for showing and for retail purchase as well. Proceeds from the film will be directly used to fund future events and services.

We hope that you have a wonderful time at the 2006 Pride In The Arts Festival. Many thanks to all  the artists, helpers, and management and staff at Longfork Campground and Resort for helping us to make this dream come true! As this is a Pride and family friendly event, we ask all to be considerate, keep our goals in mind, and have a fantastic time!
Let your Pride shine!
